L.D. Bell High School Band

Band Banquet Tickets & Yearbook Distribution

Students who have paid all of their band fees for the 2011-12 school year will have an opportunity to pick up their band Banquet Ticket, sign up for a table, and be given their Band Yearbook on Monday, May 14th beginning at 4pm in the band hall. This will also be the ONLY OPPORTUNITY for students to purchase tickets for non-band students and parents wishing to attend for $35 per ticket. Any non-band student must fill out an emergency release form and submit it on May 14th. The cost of each band student is included in their band fees, as long as they are paid in full. No tickets or yearbooks will be distributed to students that have remaining balances on their band fees.

Any current Sophomore or Junior may apply to be a part of the 2012-13 LD Bell Band Leadership Team by completing the following packet. All material is to completed and submitted to Mr. Mathews in person by Wednesday, May 9th. No late entries will be accepted.

UIL Concert and Sightreading Sweepstakes!

The L.D. Bell Concert Bands One, Two & Three again received the coveted "UIL Sweepstakes" trophy at the Region 5 UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest held at Haltom High School on April 18th.

2011-2012 TMEA All State and All Region Results

On Saturday, December 8th, L.D. Bell Band students competed in All-Region Auditions. Students performed excerpts from 3 etudes for 5 adjudicators in a "behind the curtain" audition. Possible achievement levels are "District," "Region," as well as certification to "Area." "District" is a distinction for performers who were just below the cut for "Region." "Region" students rehearsed and performed in the TMEA All-Region 5 Clinic & Concert on January 13 & 14. "Area" students auditioned for "State" on January 7th in Odessa and 7 members advanced to the 2012 TMEA All State Band.

2011 L.D. Bell Band

Congratulations to the L.D. Bell Band who placed first in a field of 30 bands on Saturday, November 5th at the Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional with a score of 94.20. L.D. Bell additionally won the Outstanding Music Performance caption award and the Outstanding Visual Performance caption award.
On October 18th the Blue Raidier Band performed at the annual U.I.L. Region V Marching Band Contest and earned their 53rd consecutive UIL Region First Division rating.

Band Aids

Attention all 8th & 9th graders! We need a few good Band Aids to help at the football games. If you like to work hard, play hard, and be where the action is, then this is the job for you. Band Aids meet early on football game days to help load the trucks, keep everyone refreshed with water, and other important tasks that support the Bell band. The first football game is Friday, August 26th! Be sure to read the Guidelines for Band Aids, sign them, and fill out an application. Your parents need to read & sign all the forms, too. Email them to Karen Stanfield at kjstanfield@att.net, deliver them to Mr. Holt at the Bell Band Hall or fax to the LD Bell Band at 817-285-3213.
